Why we exist

The world is not short of news.
It is short of people who can connect the dots
clearly, and with compassion.

The Meridian exists because the bomb falling on Tehran and the grocery bill rising in Colombo are the same event — separated by distance and obscured by complexity. We draw the line between them. For ordinary people. In plain language. Without taking sides — except the side of the people who pay the price.

01
People before politics
Every piece opens or closes on a human being. Not a government. Not an ideology.
02
Follow the money
Economics explains what politics obscures. We always ask who benefits and who pays.
03
No enemies, only systems
We critique structures and decisions. Never peoples. Never ethnicities. Never religions.
04
History doesn't repeat — but it rhymes
Every story has a historical echo. We find it, name it, and show what happened last time.
05
Plain language always
If your neighbour can't understand it, we rewrite it. Intelligence is not the same as jargon.
06
The Global South is not a victim
We write with dignity. The Global South has agency, history, and the right to its own analysis.
Languages

One perspective.
